VALDESANCHUELA SWIMMING POOL

SPORTS EQUIPMENT IN VALDEMORO

I have always enjoyed being underwater, looking up, watching the reflections of the light as it crosses the surface of the water, generating a melting pot of blues and shimmers that has never ceased to fascinate me. The building recreates this sensation: swimming under a swell from which light filters through the water.
The main nave of the pool is formed by parallel curved ribbons that give the impression of floating in the air. Between them, vertical polycarbonate cutouts flash like the scaly skin of fish, accentuating the watery atmosphere.
The south front, a plane of transparent glass, merges the interior of the building with the surrounding landscape and allows unfiltered natural light to enter, amplified by reflections in the interior. From the outside, in its movement of volumes, the building reaches an iconic dimension, which connects it with its public character making it recognizable. At night, it functions as a large lantern, visible from the highway.
